Interventional Radiology is the practice of using three-dimensional images to plan and perform noninvasive surgery and to “intervene” in treating head, neck, spine, vessel and heart conditions that once would have required traditional open surgery. Interventional radiology represents a major medical breakthrough that is saving lives, and Riverside Health System operates the only local treatment facility with the on-site technology and physician expertise to be able to offer this life-saving treatment. In fact, Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News is one of only four Comprehensive Stroke Centers in the state of Virginia as designated by DNV GL Healthcare. Spain Commercial, Inc. was proudly selected to construct the biplane angiography suite on the Riverside Regional campus, installing the advanced biplane imaging equipment which is the foundation of Interventional Radiology practice.
